Overview
By enabling users to monitor their drilling data at multi-level, the dashboard supports 4 new scenarios, increases user engagement by 20% and speed up the implementation by 1 month.
Impact
Working with the design manager, I conduct stakeholder interview, design interaction, help with project planning and implementation.
The Problem
Users couldn't make good-informed decisions with overwhelming drilling data, causing unsatisfying drilling performance.
User
Needs
Two types of users that have different focuses.
Field users
Track real-time tank data to make decisions on current well construction operations.
Office users
Gather drilling insights to create plans for future well construction operations.
Final Design
Provide customization
Enable users to create groups for monitoring tank data together, organize the data in the way they want.
Provide flexibility
The edit feature allows user to add, reorder and remove a tank, giving them the flexibility and control over their data.
Provide data insights
The trend line shows how the group data changes over time, providing insights on how the drilling progress within a certain time range.
At-glance information
The gauge colors indicate the tank volume levels, lowering user effort to dig up information and reducing the time spent aggregating information.
Make the data contextual
Disclose the most important information at the surface and hide the details in the second level with easy access.
Outcomes
Supports 4 new scenarios.
Increases user engagement by 20%.
Speeds up the implementation by 1 month.
